Holy Family
The icon of the "Holy Family" presents the Virgin Mary, Saint Joseph and the infant Jesus Christ. The icon has been painted by great hagiographers, both in the West and in Orthodox, Byzantine iconography, but it has also come under numerous attacks from people who consider it "heretical". Those who claim the heretical depiction of the "Holy Family" are mainly based on the "degradation" of Saint Joseph and his offering and the "undermining" of the Virginity of the Virgin Mary.

The Holy Family
The Holy Family has been depicted in Orthodox iconography for hundreds of years, challenging the argument that this particular image belongs exclusively to the tradition of the Catholic Church.
Furthermore, from His birth until the revelation of His divine nature, Christ lived among people as a human being, without ever committing any human sin or wrongdoing. During His childhood, He was cared for and protected by His mother, the Virgin Mary, and by Joseph.
A notable example of this protection is the Flight into Egypt, when Mary and Joseph safeguarded the infant Jesus from the wrath of King Herod.
The profound bond between Jesus and His mother is also revealed in a deeply moving moment during the Crucifixion, when Christ, while on the Cross, entrusted the care and protection of His mother to the Apostle John.
The icon of the Holy Family depicts Jesus as an infant, emphasizing this human stage of His earthly life, during which His family consisted of the Virgin Mary, His mother, and Joseph, who had undertaken the responsibility of caring for and protecting Him.
