The Holy Icon of the Virgin Mary "Gerontissa" is located in the I. M. Pantokratoros and is the reserve icon of the Monastery. Tradition has it that it was a gift to the monastery from the Byzantine Emperor Alexios I Komnenos. The icon is a copy of the mosaic icon of the Virgin Mary 'Gorgoupiko', which was in the I.M. Pantokrator in Constantinople, built by the Emperor himself.
